Cutest Pumpkin in the PatchThis past week has been an amazing week that has reminded me of how much I have to be thankful for. This time last week I was visiting my daughter, Danielle, in the hospital—she had just had a blood transfusion. We were so thankful that Danielle and baby Camden were able to go home on Tuesday. Camden himself gives us an abundance to be thankful for! (Click here to see some of our many pictures of Camden!)

In addition to Camden’s birth and Danielle’s hospital stay, last week was full of ministry needs calling for long work days, with eighteen hours being the shortest. When I laid down around midnight on Thursday night, I told Terrie, “I’m going to rest well tonight!”

And I did rest well—for about thirty minutes before Terrie’s groans of pain woke me up. I was soon following an ambulance to the hospital. Terrie was having a gallbladder attack.

During our two day stay and a surgery, the Lord showed His care for us in even the seemingly small details. It was a special blessing to both of us that the competent hospital staff included some dear ladies from our church who are nurses.

Friday night, I called my daughter, Kristine, from the hospital and asked her to check on Danielle. “I’d love to, Dad,” Kristine explained, “but I’m at Urgent Care with Jon [her husband] who tore ligaments in his foot at the basketball game tonight.” That was the third family member for the week needing special medical attention. What a week!

Thankfully, Danielle is doing well and gaining more strength every day, Terrie is home and recuperating, and Jon will see a doctor tomorrow for his foot. But even more thankfully, God’s grace has been abundantly available to our family this week.

While it has been an incredibly busy week, and an outwardly hectic period, each of these occurrences has reminded us to find our strength in the Lord and has drawn us to His promises. We have much to be thankful for! Regardless of circumstances, we can always say with the psalmist, “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High” (Psalms 92:1).
