THINK!

Remember when your mother taught you to “think before you speak”? It’s good advice for when you speak electronically, too.

God commands us, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29).

Should we give less thought to what we say with our fingers than what we say with our lips? However you speak—in person, through email, online, via text—think before you speak.

A simple acrostic that has helped me check my conversation reminds me to THINK:

T—Is it true?
H—Is it helpful?
I—Is it inspiring?
N—Is it necessary?
K—Is it kind?

How would your electronic communication change if you paused to think through these questions before you clicked “send”?
