Growth Points 023: Loving God More than Ministry

October 15, 2012 by Paul Chappell

It’s amazing to me how in ministry, without ever intending for it to happen, our love shifts—from pure love for God to love for what we do for God.

In the hurried pace and appearance-driven mindset of our culture—even of our ministry culture—we become human doings instead of human beings.

The greatest challenge, as well as the greatest need, in my life is to keep my love for Jesus flourishing. In this growth points video, I share a few thoughts about keeping the focus, not on what you are doing, but on who you are before God—and especially, on who He is.

  1. Dear Bro. Chappell,

Thank you for this powerful and timely reminder of how important it is to love Him and put Him first place in our lives. I love this site, and come here so be refreshed in my mind. It is an internet oasis.

I also thank you for the opportunity to preach at WCBC, and for the generous manner in which I was taken care of. I was treated like royalty, and, as always, I came away challenged and blessed.

Thank you for your friendship. I love you and pray for you as you serve our King.

    Your Friend,
    Dean Herring
